Does Sothink DVD EZWorkshop support DVD copy on a Mac OSX?
The current version of Sothink DVD EZWorkshop only supports running on Windows. But you can use a virtual PC software on your Mac to run Sothink DVD EZWorkshop.
Does Sothink DVD EZWorkshop support DVD-5 and DVD-9 DVD movie?
Yes, both are supported by Sothink DVD EZWorkshop. And it can play D5 and D9 movies, copy D5 movies, or shrink a D9 movie to a D5 disk.
Can I burn other data to the CD/DVD?
Yes. Using Sothink Burner, which is integrated in Sothink DVD EZWorkshop, you can burn all kinds of data files to CD/DVD disks, such as CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW, etc.
What is CSS? And how can I remove it so as to play and copy the DVD?
Content Scrambling System (CSS) is created by the Hollywood Studios to prevent DVD movies from being pirated. The CSS encrypts the data on a DVD and requires a special key to decrypt it. Only DVD player developers can get the key from the studios so that their products could decrypt the data on the fly during the playback. You can see the folders and files of a movie DVD in a DVD-ROM drive, but if you just simply copy the content to computer, the copy you get will not be watchable. Therefore before you copy a DVD movie you have to rip the protection from it first.
However the protection systems is rather easy to defeat by many decrypting applications. For example, there is a powerful freeware for unlocking DVD movies named DVD43. After the DVD movie is unlocked by DVD43, most applications can read the DVD movie freely without changing any setting of the applications or the computer system. The decrypting process takes merely several seconds. It is easy to find such software using search engines on Internet (like google).
Can I use the converted files which are stored in the temporary folder to burn new disk? How?
Yes. Every time after the DVD movie is successfully converted, the created temporary files, which are ready-to-burn, will be stored in the temporary folder (the default folder is "C:\Program Files\SourceTec\Sothink DVD EZWorkshop", you can change the temporary folder to the one you prefer). If you want to burn these files please:
1, Run Sothink Burner.
2, Then find your tempo pry folder, and then the correct sub-folder. The image below shows how the sub-folder looks like. The sub-folders are automatically created by the software. There are two parallel folders named "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS" in the sub-folder. Just drag the two folders to the burning list.
( The sub-folder is named after the date and an ordinal number when the converted files are created. The ordinal number is the times that the converting is executed in the same day. If you are not sure if it is the correct folder, you can use Sothink Player to display the ".IFO" files in the "VIDEO_TS" folder to check if it is the right movies you want to burn. )
3, Click
to start burning.

How can I change the folder which is used for saving temporary files (the temporary folder)?
Select "Setting" at the beginning panel. In "Convert" tab, specify the folder you prefer in "Folder for Temporary Files".
Why does Sothink Burner take longer time to format a DVD+RW disk than other software?
According to the particularity of a DVD+RW disk, it takes Sothink Burner averagely about 20 minutes to format one. Some other software does not execute complete formatting, so it spends less time on formatting. However when writing data onto the disk, it has to format the remained disk space first. Sothink Burner always completely format a disk, thus it doesn't need anymore formatting when write data to the disk. One DVD-RW disk only needs to be formatted once. We regard time of formatting around 20 minutes is acceptable.
